CREEi delivers its final onsite intensive course May 21-25, 2024. This will be hosted by CREEi at St George’s University (SGU) and the Windward Island Research and Education Foundation (WINDREF) on the True Blue campus in Grenada. It will feature the presentation and defense of normative master’s in bioethics projects by 15 fellows (5 English-speakers and 10 Spanish-speakers) and marks their near completion of the requirements for their master’s of science in bioethics degree (MScB). As part of the intensive course, these fellows will design and present a short workshop for institutional review boards and research ethics committees in Caribbean small island developing states and other regional low- and middle-income countries. This will be delivered in English, recorded, translated, and made available online in both English and Spanish as a resource to others.
Additional course work and learning activities will be conducted with some preliminary reading and writing completed prior to arrival. During the course, fellows, faculty, and members of the CREEi Advisory Board will have opportunities to relax together while enjoying the beautiful island nation of Grenada. These opportunities will contribute to maintaining the long-lasting and trusting relationships they have established across countries and languages, and that will help to sustain the small regional research ethics network that CREEi has established.
